11 Maggio 2016
Vasco Bendini: L’Immagine accolta (a cura di Flaminio Gualdoni)
20 Settembre 201611th May - 30th June 2016
Opening time: Tuesday - Saturday | 2.00pm - 7.00pm
Aurelio Amendola began his artistic career by photographing the works of Giovanni Pisano and
published them in a book in 1969. Then, over the years, came the titanic endeavors of the series on
Michelangelo, and subsequently his works on Benvenuto Cellini, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Antonio
Canova and Amedeo Modigliani.
Aurelio Amendola is, by far, the great photographer of sculpture: he does not simply shoots pictures
but gives his own interpretation without altering them , creating images that are in fact critical
essays as well as extraordinary visions.
The exhibition is completed by some portraits of great companions of Amendola's, such as Alberto
Burri, Andy Warhol and Jannis Kounellis.
Amendola recently had solo exhibitions at prestigious institutions as the St. Petersburg Hermitage,
the Medici Chapels in Florence and the Milan Triennale.
